The sight of a computer sprite reading one of those O'Reilly tutorial books - you know the ones, they're a series of guides to various programming languages - may seem very odd.  And so is Mouse's reason for reading C in a Nutshell.  She's not doing it to learn C, because she could code in C or anything else in her downtime.  She's trying to gain

And we have a User, or SuperUser/Admin, or former so... well, you get the picture. He might not be as much a distraction as a new source of User Mentality Knowledge. But we will know once they talk a while right?

All great things start easy. Mace offers a nod to the distressed female-avatar sprite. "Good morning."

Mouse was so focused on her dissection of the book that hearing someone greet her comes as something of a shock. She jumps, her pen drawing a jagged line off the edge of the page. Then she looks up, blinking. "Umm, mornin'." She's trying to remember whether she has seen this person before.

Maybe she saw him around, but they really did not talk before, no. "I am sorry, it was not my intention to startle you."

Mouse looks down at the much-scribbled-on book, then back at Mace. "It's okay, I guess. I think I was gettin' myself into a loop there." She shrugs.

Yes, a Pretty Normal Guy, from Earth. And he did just nodded and waveed to the girl who seems to be an Earth Girl as well.

"Nothing. Just if you are that bored, I can go back home and bring a cordless drill for you to practice making holes on your head. It must be more fun than the cards." Oh, Ben is in a very good mood, and the smile is sincere friendly. Chill, girl, he is not trying to make things worse.
