"Should I ask what's wrong, or should I just go ahead and buy the next round?"

"Hey, Sara. I'd suggest you buy the next round but I'm not sure that'd help much," Jack says with a mirthless smile.

"Hey yourself, and no, I doubt it would help, but it'd accomplish more than trying to bore a hole in the wall with your mind."

"Well trying to do that is about as useful as anything else at the moment," he grumbles. Quickly, though, he lets out a sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Sorry, it's just been a really bad few days back home."

"Are you all right?" Sayid's raising an eyebrow at him.

Jack takes a deep breath, giving his neighbour a tight smile. No reason to snap at someone else because he's pissed off at something he can't really change.

"Bad day back in my world. Jack Bauer," he says, holding out his hand.

Welp. Sayid can identify with that. He shakes Jack's hand with a wry look of sympathy.

"Sayid Jarrah. Bad days seem to be going around."

"I take it things aren't exactly all peace and quiet where you are, either?" he asks. "Where and when are you from, by the way?"

Jack's tipping his glass back to drain it when he spots Behrooz. Swallowing, he nods in Behrooz' direction, trying not to scowl. It's not Behrooz he's angry at.

Jack sighs, leaving his glass and heading over to Behrooz's table, as it sure looks like he's going to have to make the first step.

"Hey, Behrooz. How are you doing?" he asks.

That's a mite too much angry to miss, even for the casual observer. James notices it easily as he approaches the bar to pick up his drink for the night. He frowns slightly and approaches Jack with caution.

"I take it not everything's all right at the moment."

Jack takes a large sip of his drink, closing his eyes for a moment. "What exactly was your first clue?" he says. "Things are definitely not all right."

“Far too many clues to name,” he replies. “You care to talk or drink about it?”

"Drink, definitely," he says, taking another mouthfull of his drink. "We're getting hit, and badly."
