At some point this morning, a little six-year-old sneaks out of the infirmary, where she decided to sleep last nightShe's in the same outfit as yesterday, and her hair could use a good brushing and being pulled back again, but she's cheerfully sitting on a barstool eating chocolate chip pancakes and drinking chocolate milk ( Read more... )

And at a table, there's a man with a camera. He's filming people. And really, he looks extremely innocent. Whoops?

Eventually, she does have to finish her yummies. And when she does, she looks around for someone interesting.

Cameras are interesting!

She slips off the bar stool and moves in front of the camera and strikes a pose. Yes, she is a bit of a ham.

The blonde man behind the camera grins. And starts to narrate.

Well, dear viewers, we seem to have come across a true camera lover here. Tell the folks at home what you're doing, Roger your name, my dear.

He gets a big (and vaguely familiar) grin.

"My name is Princess Sarah Marilla Lucy Pevensie Blythe," she declares proudly. "And this place is in my closet. Like Narnia! And you can call me Rilla, 'cause the other name's really long, and everybody calls me Rilla anyway, even though it's not really my name. And I'm six and three quarters and I'm going to be in the first grade!"

She felt the need to make sure he knows exactly who he's talking to.

Megan is sitting on Liam's knee, a little further down the Bar, but starts trying to wriggle down as soon as she spots the older girl. And her chocolate pancakes.

Since it's not far, and he can keep an eye on her the whole time, Liam sets her down and lets her go over.

Rilla catches sight of Megan and brightens considerably. She hasn't seen any other kids so far, and while she's met a lot of nice and fun grown-ups, they're still grown-ups. Except for Toki and Miniver - they're just friends.

"H'lo," she says around a mouthful of pancake. Then she swallows. Bad manners. "Hello."

"Hi!" Megan chirps back. "I Megan."

Liam taught her to introduce herself, but she's not quite up to grammar yet.

Rilla has something to feel grown-up about, then. Other than the age difference.

"I'm Princess Sarah Marilla Lucy Pevensie Blythe. You can call me Rilla. And I'm six and three quarters years old." She's so proud of the 'three quarters' - Mr. Adrian taught her how to count quarters yesterday.

It's fairly common knowledge that street urchins don't associate with princesses, unless its one of those romantic fairytales that ends in "happily ever after". But Nisha's never heard any fairytales.

"Those look really good," she comments, eyeing the pancakes. "What are they?"

It's also slightly less common knowledge that Rilla's a princess like Sarah Crewe was (without the whole boarding school debacle), and therefore has no problem associating with the lower classes.

"They're chocolate chip pancakes, silly," Rilla giggles. "Do you want some? You can get anything you want by magic, you know."

Nisha nods. "I know; Bar's really cool that way, isn't she?"

"My name's Nisha. What's yours?" Because its totally impolite to hold a conversation and not introduce yourself, no matter what your social standing is.

"I'm Princess Sarah Marilla Lucy Pevensie Blythe," she says airly.

Then she giggles. "Only not really. I'm just Rilla."

"Good evening, Princess!"

And there's Monk, still in uniform, smiling brightly at the little girl.

She brightens.

"Hi, Mr. Adrian!" Blink. Blink. "Are you a policeman?"

"I," he beams, "am a detective. And now I work here!"

GLEE!
