It's a shame that winter had to return outside.

Sara's reclaimed her spot by one of the fireplaces, examining a piece of metal.

She can be bothered.

Knox keeps finding people he saw in the sun yesterday by the fireplace today. Things do change fast here.

"Hey, Sara. Saw you at the party, I think. Not bad." His normal tone of well-meaning if very rough-hewn flirtation is muted, though. "Got a few?"

"..........sure." She has a rough idea of what this could be about.

"I had the weirdest conversation last week. With a 10 year old girl...With you." No point in not coming out and saying it. "Was that you? That is, did you really come here as a kid?"

"I was eight. And yeah, that was me." She smiles tightly. "Time's a bitch here and I never remember those visits until after they happen timewise here, as opposed to back home."

Cliff walks by, a box under his arm. He offers a smile, not knowing her but for politeness' sake. "'Afternoon."

"Afternoon." She's distracted by the metal in her hands. Shiny!

Cliff knows all about shiny! being distracted. He doesn't mind. "Name's Cliff. What's that, if you don't mind my asking?"

"That's a good question, sir. Should my tests indicate what I think this is, I might be holding part of a murder scene in my hands." Well, he asked.

"I'm Sara. Las Vegas Crime Lab."

Hodges actually likes the cold weather; it reminds him of Massachusetts. He flops theatrically onto a nearby armchair.

Sara is a California girl, much as she won't ever admit it. The cold is not her friend.

"Hey."

You'd think that a guy who wears long sleeves and heavy layers year-round in Vegas wouldn't be much for cold weather, but David's weird that way.

"Hola."

He's relieved to see her grown-up again, though he certainly doesn't say so.

"What's up?"
