Lake Party Water Post

Feb 10, 2007 09:09

The water is warm, almost too warm to be refreshing, and sparkles in the early afternoon sun as the squid frolics in the distance.

It's the perfect temperature for swimming, and the sun is the perfect temperature to make one need to swim.

So come on in. The water's fine.

Molly had been pleasantly surprised to find a party and warm weather when she came to the bar today She is taking advantage of one of the few times she will be likely to be able to wear a swimsuit before her belly is too large to fit in one.

The bar gave her a strange rubber or plastic float of some kind when she stopped to ask for sunscreen, and so now she is trying it out.

There is now redheaded witch on a raft, floating on the lake. Come say hello!

DUNH dunh.

DUNH dunh.

DUNH Dunh, Dunh duinh dunh DUNH!

That's right. There is a shark fin sailing through the water behind her, heading towards the raft with malicious intent.

And here she is without her wand! And someone had told her there was shark in the lake....

She sits up, almost tipping herself into the water, and wonders if she should scream for help.

As the Bunny pops up, clad in scuba gear.

Rapunzel had been sunbathing in the new bikini the Bar graciously provided, but now she is floating in the water to cool off a little, hair making a gold halo around her head on the surface.

Almost too warm.

Alllllmost.

Nick Carraway is floating atop the water in a very tacky pair of swim trunks provided to him by Bar.

He's almost asleep.

"If you're going to fall asleep here, I hope you're wearing sunblock."

This is said by a young woman who has noticed the tacky trunks, and then the very very relaxed owner beginning to doze.

Nick starts for a moment, splashing as he snaps out of his faaaaar too relaxed state.

"Huh? Wh -- oh. Yes. I am."

Pause.

"I think."

She has the grace to look sheepish for having startled him.

"Sorry - I'd just feel bad if you woke up looking like a lobster later, because no one had been paying attention."

And then there's Alex Krycek, who's not completely in the water, but has his feet dangling in it.

He's not used to this weather, but it's a very welcome change.

With black swim trunks on he sits, sunglasses resting atop his head.

He'll be nice today, the mun promises!

What did a super hero, recently returned from battle, do with her spare time?

Well, she took advantage of the warm water, pushing herself into laps far distant from the casual swimmers. Scarred body sliding through the waters that should be ice, hair trailing like blood through the waves.

Emily doesn't do anything casually, and that includes swimming. So, a pale, skinny little girl, long black hair clinging wetly to her shoulders, pops up from a long underwater swim, right in front of Rachel. She'd been heading for the depths, as well - just exploring. As she does.

She regards the woman with interested black eyes, neatly treading water.

Rachel halted her forward motion as neatly as any could hope, fingertips passing just a hairs breadth from Emily's face as she did so. So, a flame drowned emerald gaze met the girl's black without a hint of humanity within...

Emily gives her a nod, polite enough, her eyes human enough - human enough and no more so, for there is something distinctly Strange about the little girl.

"Lovely day," she says, simply.
