April woke up early this morning feeling like shit and not entirely sure why. She was, however, reminded when she saw a note on her dresser ( Read more... )

Something's coming at any rate.

Said 'something' is her brother, bringing a much of chamomile tea.

She's not looking up. Or around. Or at anything but the fire or her knees, honestly.

But she hears him. And she knows it's him.

"Hi."

"How're you feeling?" His voice is soft, gentle. He puts the mug next to her.

"Really shitty." Chills are starting to set in, and she's been nauseous since she woke up.

Not to mention she feels like the biggest idiot in the world.

Liam has had mornings like this. Many of them, if not for quite a long time. But he knows what he's looking at, anyway, when he wanders over and settles in another chair. The kids are at home, today.

"Hey. You okay?"

April only glances up a bit, and only long enough enough to verify that no, she doesn't know this guy.

She shakes her head sharply, then regrets it and rests it on her knees with a soft groan.

He's not here to be creepy, so he doesn't do anything weird like touch her. He doesn't move, though. And he keeps his voice quiet, in deference to her head.

"You taken anything for that stomach?"

"No," she says softly. "I'm fine. Now please don't take this personally, but fuck off."

She can't deal with the world right now.

She can hardly deal with herself.

"April?" Cait blinks at the sight of her friend, abd moves over, concerned. "April dear, whats wrong?"

Oh no.

A friend. A well-meaning and kind friend... but a friend.

Unless they knew her before Milliways, she really doesn't want to deal with people right now. And even then...

"It's nothing. Just kinda sick's all." She tries to smile reassuringly. It is true, after all. After a fashion.

"Are you sure?" She crouches, close, but not too much. "You seem terrible." And not only visually, Cait feels something else wrong.

The pause is, perhaps, a bit too long, but only by a split second.

"I'll be fine," she says, not really answering Cait's question.

(OOC: I know you're probably asleep now, but... whenever you wake up...)

Danny knows what happened the minute he sees her. And he doesn't go right over to tell her she was stupid, or ask her if she's alright, or any of that. He knows that's probably not what she needs right now, definitely not what she wants, and figures if anyone else knows, she's probably getting enough of it.

So instead, he just sits down in a nearby chair, orders a hot tea, and doesn't move. He's not even going to speak to her. But if she wants him, he'll be here.

She doesn't notice him at first. Staring at her knees and fighting back nausea and a headache and shivering and feeling like about the worst person in the world can be distracting. But she does, finally, and doesn't look up at him.

"You gonna lecture me, too?" she mumbles. Not that she's been lectured at all, precisely, but... well, she can't think of a better word for it. So 'lecture' it is.

Danny shakes his head, looking more at his tea than at April. "Nah. You already got that, far as I can tell."

She hugs her knees miserably and clutches at the blanket. It's too fucking cold in here, can't they see that? She's fucking shivering...

"Everybody's disappointed," she says in a sort of strangled voice. "I can't... I can't do anything right, never have been able to."
