[OOM: Within the Base - Part 1]

[OOM: Within the Base - Part 2]

[warnings for violence, gore, blood, and other assored unpleasantness]

And the door opens.

And Cooper walks in. And he doesn't look pleased. Not even a little bit.

And there's a spray of red on one cheek.

"Jesus Christ," says Wells, who's been here a while today. And then: "What the fuck am I smelling?"

He looks over at Wells, too tired and just... sick to even be glad to see him.

"That'd be bits of a man going towards necrotic. And bits of another one that just couldn't take it."

Cooper's own gun is in his hand, hanging down. That said, his hand squeezes on the handle. Not the trigger, his finger's not even near it, but...

Wells' eyes flick down to the weapon a moment, but he figures Cooper's probably aware of what he's doing, so his sit-back-and-look-at-the-holster move is only slightly exaggerated. "Fucking hell, mate. I'm sorry to hear that."

He breathes a couple of times before the gun goes slack in his hand. He's just holding it now, as opposed to holding onto it like it might save him from what'd just happened.

"Yeah. Fucking sorry to see it."

The words are flat. Not hard, just... a little dead. He'd be all right, but right now it was still hitting him.

There's a kid watching him.

His eyes go from the gun to the blood; no real startlement, not much confusion, just a slight narrowing of his eyes like he's seen a mystery and a set to his shoulders and hips like he just got ready to dive for cover.

Cooper turns to the kid with haunted eyes.

He's not in a good place right now.

Wesker watches. For recognition, for intent, for weakness; for any clue he can get. "What's the gun for?"

The tone is pitched to get through to the traumatized.

Don't ask where he learned it.

"What's a gun usually for?"

It's almost a grunt and his accent is thick.
