You see, he's researching a strange and interesting plant, which is currently at his table in a Maxwell Coffee can. It hasn't changed much, so Philippus might recognize it.
Seymour almost says something before realizing that anything he says will sound stupid. It's not like he knows much about pool.

But the plant does catch her eye a minute later, and she straightens up, looking over curiously. "Hello."

He also fights down the urge to babble that he's sorry for everything and he really supports Mr. Martin Luther King Jr. Sometimes that sneaks up on him.

There are eyes on her. She looks up, and then over, friendly. Maybe the sphere is what's so fascinating? In another moment she'll break the girl's train of thought with a greeting, probably.

She moves like a dancer, or a martial artist, to the eyes of someone who knows what to look for. But there's something odd about it -- wasted motion in the twitch of fingers and the tilt of her chin, and perhaps an impression that she's not quite moving through the same world everyone else is.
