Vesper is looking for a book to read, which requires her coming downstairs in what looks like a large male shirt and a pair of jeans.

"...Um, something fantasy?" She's having trouble sleeping, "...Maybe something by Tolkien?"

While she's waiting, she steals a glance at the figure sitting at the bar.

There's a cold feeling in the pit of her stomach.

That happens, sometimes.

Just because she loves you doesn't mean you love her.

She knows it. She accepts it.

She stopped being wistful millenia ago.

People are just going to be people, is the thing you have to remember.

But Death smiles at Vesper, sideways, for all that.

It's not that she doesn't like death! Well okay, she sort of took that route herself so-it's not like she couldn't have known what to expect.

She inches closer, "....You're..." She raises a brow, "...taking a break?"

She hopes. She thinks. Please don't be here for me!

She's here, and she's there, and she's in Afghanistan, and Tibet, and Chicago, and New New New New York, and Vulcan, and any other place you can think of.

"But I'm having a drink. And I'm not here for you, Vesper. I don't do that here, really."

It's simply said. It's not an attempt at reassuring, it's just the truth.

Nobody loves Zuko! ...but he does have to doubletake at the woman at the bar. There's... someone in a class of her own.

Funny, he spent time with her brother recently. One of them, anyway... but has another's mark alllllllll over him.

"Hi there." It's patient, as she looks over at him.

Zuko doesn't know what to make of her; but he nods quietly, and says, "Hey."

He may be Desire's, but he's encountered Dream -- and Zuko's from a world where you acknowledge the sprits with a certain sort of trepidation and respcet... which is probably the only reasno she doesn't get snarled out.

"Miss," he says as he takes a seat with his glass of wine.
