Weddings, thinks Cimorene, are all very well and good, provided that somebody else is doing the planning. However, she knows perfectly well that if she lets Willin and her mother plan everything (or anything), the whole event will be so blown out of proportion that she might not even see Mendanbar until after it's all over. They certainly can!

Cimorene almost drops her pen in surprise, but manages to peer under the table with a very small amount of dignity intact.

There's a fox under the table. That's new.

"Er...hello," she says tentatively, because she's not sure if this is a talking fox or not. One can never be too certain.

"No," says Cimorene, smiling at the fox. "Please, be my guest."

She moves the seating chart over to one side of the table and tries to clear off a decent sized spot, tossing her list of names onto the pile.
