So far as Whistler knows, Suzi is still upstairs. Not sleeping- she doesn't sleep long, never has- but upstairs. Everyone needs some alone time, after all, and he's fine with that. That's why he's down here, with someone who is sleeping- someone of the small, furry, brown persuasion, curled up in a basket at his feet, snoring while he carefully ( Read more... )

Khemrys would certainly agree to the complicated appearance of what ever Whistler was working on. To her it seemed nothing so much as strange artwork? A wall plaque perhaps full of colorful strands.

That certainly did not stop her from approaching though, skirts swishing softly as she eyed the basket "Lord Whistler" she greeted. "You have a companion..."

Whistler lifts his head with a smile. "Khemrys," he greets. "Hey there. Yeah, that's Joy. Suzi and I got a puppy. It's my turn to take care of her for the moment."

"Lady Joy" Khemrys greeted the sleeping bundle with a smile in her voice. "There has been many puppies as of late it seems...though this lady does seem much happier with her lot in life than the last I did meet"

"She is to be a ratter or a hunter when she is grown?" she asked curiously, as where she was from, pet's had jobs.

"Oh, mostly she's going to be a companion animal," Whistler says. "She might wind up being trained as a guide dog someday, if she's suitable. Not that I need one, but it wouldn't hurt for her to be able to do that kind of work."

Much, much later Suzi does come downstairs. Being alone is good sometimes...and then you get twitchy because the Gen fields are too far away, if you're Sime. "Hi, Whistler." She says as she approaches, bending down to rub Joy under her chin, "How're you doing?"

"Hi, Suzi," says Whistler, lifting his head and smiling. "I'm doing all right. How're you doing?"

She was a little off-kilter last night and she still sounds a little thrown, so he's going to be just as stable and reassuring as he can.

She stands up from the happy puppy and kisses his cheek, "I'm a lot less shocked than I was?" She offers, "And, um. Getting better by the second. I have lots of questions for her? And I wanted to know...do you want to see about getting formalized Companion training? Its up to you, I think you do perfectly as you are...but she might have tricks to help you with things that I don't know about?"

Whistler gives this some thought. "I want to be able to do whatever you need me to," he says. "Do you think the training would help at all with that?"

Eventually, Angel looks over from his lunch (and Mark's note).
"You too busy for company?" Only polite to ask, after all.

"Not at all," Whistler says, putting down the cold-solder tool. (They don't have them in his time. They're far too neat a toy to pass up.) "What's up?"

"Nothing in particular, really. New York was a blast, but I didn't really expect less, and... it seems Mark's mother found her way in here. Not sure where that's gonna end up just yet."
Other than 'poor Mark.'

"My mother would probably have a heart attack if she found her way in here," Whistler says after some thought. "This should be interesting."
