Clarice, currently busy with undoing her scarf and sticking her gloves in her coat pocket, arches her eyebrows.

"Soliloquizing?" she repeats. "Should I stand back?"

Valerie looks up and smiles.

"Well, it is Macbeth. You might want to."

She smiles back, looking slightly bemused.

"Am I liable to wind up in the middle of a swordfight?"

"No, most of Macbeth's soliloquies involve metaphorical blades. He's too busy using the real ones to talk."
