Out in the stables, a man is singing. He doesn't have a bad voice, really, just one that is untrained, and a bit rough. He finds it helps the horses relax, since they've been mighty keyed up since the wolves started howling outside, for the past few days ( Read more... )

Perhaps he'll find, sometime later, a small bag of red and green tied to the door of the stables with a note that reads 'Happy St. Nicholas' Day' and contains sweet, warm cookies.

Well. Isn't that something.

Shane scratches the back of his head as he stands in the breezeway, deciding the best use for a bag of cookies.

In the end, they are split between himself and his horse.

Small blessings should be shared.

Mary Anne hasn't been to see Ferreus in a little while and she decides to fix that tonight. She's a little surprised to hear singing in the stables, heading down the row until she finds the source.

Shane looks up from where he was giving his own horse a good scratching.
"Evenin', ma'am." He replies, with a polite nod. He's a clean-cut man, slender and wiry, who looks... very much in place, here.

She closes the distance to Ferreus's stall, the horse whickering when he sees her. She placates his need for affection, throwing a smile over her shoulder to Shane.

"Don't think I've seen you around before."

"Mostly about early mornings, ma'am, before most folk are up." His voice is soft, and gentle, with a faint lilt to it that might be from time spent in Tennessee, but it's hard to tell.
"Easier to get things done, horses are more peaceful."
