Because Zoe's mun is a flake, There haven't been a lot of appearances by either Zoe or Naomi in the bar, lately.

They're here now, though, occupying a seat near the fire, and while only Naomi is fussing out loud, her mother doesn't look exactly overjoyed with the 'verse at the moment.

Zoe's stint as a single parent would coincide with the onset

Even if Naomi's fussing, she's a gorgeous baby.

At least that's what Sam thinks...and says: "You're baby is gorgeous."

She shifts her own baby, who is not fussing for once, in her arms.

Zoe's generally of the same opinion, even at times like these. She looks up, smiling.

"Xiexie. Yours ain't bad-lookin', either."

"Xiexie" Sam repeats, with a grin. "You know Mal? And thanks. With the amount of time I spent pushing this kid out, he better be one fine little boy."

Zoe's smile widens, and she nods.

"Ought to--he's my captain. I'm Zoe, an' this--" She holds up her armful of fussy baby, "is Naomi."

It's the fussing that first catches Plourr's attention. Settled on the couch with one boot propped on the coffee table and a three-dimensional map projection hovering over her lap, she looks over.

Her eyes return to the map after a moment, but she glances back, almost shyly, at mother and child several times.

Zoe looks over after a few moments, and offers a smile in return.

"Ni hao."

She reddens. "Sorry; didn't mean to stare," she says gruffly, but her attention is caught by the baby again, and her expression softens some. "How old is he? She?"

Zoe looks back down at the baby as well, still smiling, if a bit tiredly. "She. And five months"

"Is that Naomi's melodious voice I hear?" Asks an obscenely chipper voice from behind Zoe. Yup, it's the pyro.
"Hullo Zoe, how's it goin'?"

Zoe doesn't so much turn her head as let it flop back against her chair, looking at Ace upside down.

"Wei, Ace. Been better."

"Sounds like. What's got her worked up? Y'know, Naomi love, there's easier ways t'get my attention than the yelpin'. Really. I'm quite easy t'nab, if y'know how." She reassures the unhappy baby, offering her hand for infant inspection.

Ace's hand is quickly appropriated, and gummed. Hard.

"Teething," Zoe says darkly.
