Be nice to him; he's got a letter from the Regional Health Authority on the table, which he just keeps reading over again.

Chase looks over in Guppy's direction, watching the man reading something repeatedly.

"You're going to burn a hole right through that paper, if you keep re-reading it," he says, then adds as an afterthought, "You okay?"

Guppy glances up. He looks exhausted and fed up.

"My department's being shut down." he says simply, unable to be bothered skirting around the subject. "The regional health authority has decided there isn't a need for two Emergency departments in Holby."

Chase gives him a sort of 'eek' face, which expresses his sympathy.

"Sorry," he says, "that sucks." He shakes his head. "Couldn't you start working at the one Emergency department? People merge all the time."

He winces slightly but appreciates the sympathy.

"I should be able to find a transfer somewhere, but that isn't really the point. People will die because of this."

"Bad news?" Sara asks quietly.

[guppy_sandhu]

He glances up, nods and hands her the letter.

"They're closing us down."

[lvpd_sidle]

She skims it and swears under her breath. "Assholes. People are going to die because of this." She tries imagining Vegas with one hospital. It isn't a pretty image.

"I know."

He puts his head in his hands. It hurts, both with the tiredness and with the emotional anger.
