Awkward.
But yes, such is life.
Michael wouldn't be interested in cookies, but the paperclips draw a puzzled look, as does Raven himself.

Raven tilts his head at Michael--which looks odd from his almost upside-down position--and grins.

"You are wanting some? They are entertaining, I think."

Comes for a closer look. "What are they?" Or you for that matter... but he's not asking that aloud of someone he just met. He peers at the objects.

"Paperclips, I am thinking."

Raven holds out a handful.

Some of them are a very bright purple. The others are green. Neon green.

"They are useful for attaching things, perhaps."

*helpfully* What's new?

"I have, I think, run out of geckoes."

That is rather more of a question than it should be, perhaps.

"But you are welcome to the paperclips, instead."

Not interested.

*Thom stands, hands in his pockets, looking down at Raven. For once.*

Raven beams up at him.

"Not even the purple ones? It is a pity, I think."

Alanna would be won over by the purple ones, at least.

Probably.

Tiny little claws grab on to the shirt covering his belly as a little Eurasian Jay tries to make a graceful landing.

...

Still needs work. It's a bit of a faceplant.

Raven 'oofs'.

Loudly.

"You are heavy for so small a thing, I think."

He blinks, tilting his head to better see Ace.

"Or possibly it is a question of momentum."

Possibly.

Raven is not taking that bet, though.

She really isn't built for sticking her tongue out right now, so she pecks him instead, and then settles into the spot between his ribcage and the back of the chair, underneath the jacket.

She'll be right there, if needed.

Raven is very carefully not crushing her.

Really.

And he isn't poking at her, either.

Feathers tickle.

Even when they are not actually touching anything but cloth.

Susan waves. She hasn't seen Raven in -well, in far too long. "Hello there," she says, as she walks over to join him. "I say, what have you there?"

Raven beams.

"Susan!"

Fortunately he does not fall out of his chair at this point.

"Mostly it is paperclips, I think? They are pretty."

"They are pretty. I've never seen paperclips like that." She examines a cluster of them more closely. "They're quite festive."

"I am fond of the blue ones, perhaps. Also yellow."

Raven wrinkles his nose, holding out a half-finished--well, one presumes it's half-finished--chain.

"Possibly there could be quilts?"

It's possible someone is holding the cookies closer in range.

After having taken one for her troubles, of course.

(Possibly more than one.)

Raven looks up, grinning.

There is a moment of hesitation--fractional, but there.

But the grin stays.

"Mary Anne. It has been some time, I think."

She nods, then swallows a mouthful of cookie before responding.

"Too long," she says, flashing a grin in return.

"Thought I'd fix that."

"It is well done, I think."

He swings himself into a seated position.

"You have been well, then?"

His eyes are a little sharper than one might expect.

Just a little.
