Someone arrived yesterday. Someone he always suspected, and feared, wanted? had arrived in the bar. Giles spent the morning, nursing a mild hangover. He had hid away the library of books that Magius had given him. Just in case. He wasn't sure their paths would ever cross again. And yet, time and time again, they did ( Read more... )

Tara glances across the room and sees Giles. Looks like something is bothering him, and the lack of books is a little...unsettling. She walks over to him and cautiously says "Good evening, Giles."

Giles glanced up at the familiar voice, and there was a warm, if slightly tight smile.

"Oh, Tara. Good evening, it's been quite a while, hasn't it? How are you?"

"It has. I'm ok. Been keeping pretty busy, trying to keep my mind off...things. How are you?"

"Things have been quiet at home, so I've been able to focus more on research."

Matt is on his way out.

His uniform's clean (That's a nice touch) he's returned his comicbooks to the bar, and he's currently figuring out how to pay his bill. It's nicely itemized (isn't that neat?) And is that the Hilton logo?

Nah. It's just the dude's imagination.

He's having difficulty.

He knew how to shield, but wasn't thinking to at the moment.

Why did he have to come here? I know that anybody can come here, and always feared he would. And now he has. Literally from my past. I know what is coming for him, and he doesn't. Which is appealing unto itself. Though should I try to change it? No, otherwise, he might not have warned us about the secret project. And things would have been worse.

Matt freezes.

He can't keep listening like this. It's something private right? Secret project?

"-Here ya go bar."

His credit card vanishes into the table.

Ignore him quietly panicking. That's an important thing, his creditcard.

Ethan... I can never truly escape you, can I? Escape our past. Escape the darkness entirely. Why I hate you. We are too much alike.

The Watcher nearby took off his glasses, and gave a weary sigh.

Especially now. I gave into temptation again. Suppose it should be right that you witness my fall. Again. Just like in the beginning.
