It could be worse. They could steal brains. They could do horrible things to small children. They could have weird alter egos.
"....Okay. For reasons entirely my own?" Matt really wants a beer. Like-bad. Jack might notice him staring, "...I believe you. As...weird as that might sound."
He knows that hospital! "-My Brother-in-Law's kids were born there!"
Pause, "-Either there or St. Lukes. No. It was St. Sebastian." Matt remembers. Elena woke him up in the middle of the night to drive down there since she didn't want her sister to be alone.
Matt gets it, "-Least your dad was around." Joleen Parkman raised her son without a father figure, "...Plane crash or not. I'm sorry to hear about that."
Matt snorts, "-Every kid thinks their dad is an asshole. I can't blame um. Half the time-"
He nods to Jack, "Half the time I arrest kids? Their fathers bail them out. But at the same time half those fathers are also major hollywood players so they don't give half a shit that they're sons and daughters are doing drugs and sneaking into movie theaters."
Okay, the last part didn't come out that cool. Matt covers it up with a long sip of the beer in front of him.
He grabs a beer, lights another Malboro (he's going through them so fast) and scans the bar.
Girl, girl, guy, girl, thing, not sure what that is--woah hey. That guy? This guy right here? Looks a lot like...nah.
Nontheless, Matt has a spinal surgeon staring up at him.
