There's only so long one can stay angry and confrontational before one is forced to accept that it is doing no good. The door remains absent, and not caring much for watching other people come and go, Elizabeth has remained absent for the past several days as well. The anger has given way to another emotion with which she is very familiar: self-pity.

Wearing a sulky expression, she walks through the backdoor and automatically scowls when someone enters through the front. She turns her back and takes a seat at the bar, idly noting that it's much easier to sit on a barstool in pants than in skirts. Tucked under her arm is a book she pilfered from Adam during their last conversation, and she drops it on the bar now, flipping through the pages despondently.
