"I've seen somebody fall in from the ceiling before, actually."

Oh look, Max, your wife just happens to be at that table. Perhaps that's why Bar put you there.

"Hello, darling."

There's the answer.

"I swear I didn't mean to," he says, innocently. "Let a man buy his wife a drink?"

Faith grins and kisses him.

"You don't need to get me drunk to have your way with me, you know," she teases.

"Isn't it usually your way?"

He does not say this jovially because he minds.

"You'd be surprised at all the various ways people wind up here," Ford says from his seat at the bar behind Max.

"Long time no see, Your Kinglyness."

"The antechamber doesn't lock," Max challenges.

This is possibly his equivalent to 'my door's always open,' but it's usually closed, so theoretically speaking it's not open, just unlocked.

"Which would be helpful if I were on Antar more often," he allows. "But as I only manage to get over there when I happen to catch someone here in the bar to let me through, schedules are a lot harder to sync up. But I'll keep it in mind.

"In the meantime, how are you? Cup of tea?"

"Dear Lord, she's not given you a key?"

The exchange of mental scowls don't stay mature for long, as Max and Trillian are the type to stick their tongues out at each other and swear in tongues.

"-- well, that's not my prerogative, it'd be her job to have them made, and considering the fact that there have been more interesting things going on in the underground chemists' at the moment, I can understand why they've not been. And I'm really quite lovely, and sure."
