The bar is feeling a trifle claustrophobic this evening, and it is still mild enough outside to make a walk in the fresh air fairly pleasant. So Merriman is taking advantage of the last hour or so of proper daylight, outside the bar and by the edge of the lake.

"Guava?"

Merriman isn't the only one walking by the lake. Of course, Merriman probably looks a lot more proper than Kokopelli does.

Merriman turns, and blinks.

'You are offering one?'

It's always best to confirm such things before accepting.

"If you like guavas. If not, I have--" a quick estimate "--about two hundred and thirty-nine other types of fruit and vegetable, and the Tree gets sulky if I don't share."

Bright, bright grin. He likes sharing the Garden's produce.

'I do like them,' Merriman says, with a bit of a smile. 'Rather tricky to eat them at times, with the seeds being as they are. But if you are offering, I should be delighted.'

One doesn't refuse an offering of this nature, as a rule.

Jack's sitting out by the lake, soaking up the quiet. He still hasn't adjuted to the noise and bustle of the bar; probably partly because he hasn't been spending a lot of time in there. He hasn't been much in the mood for conversation.

As he sits there, he notices someone out for a walk, recognising them as Professor Lyon. He'd been told that Lyon had helped rescue him, and had briefly seen him at Tony's wake, but he hadn't talked to Lyon since he got back. That should probably change.

Getting to his feet, Jack walks over. "Professor Lyon?" he asks, tentatively.

Merriman looks over, and the stern lines of his face relax a little when he sees Jack.

'Ah, Mr Bauer, good evening. How have you been feeling of late?'

And that enquiry can be answered in as great or as little detail as Jack prefers to give.

"Better than I was," he says, a little uncomfortably. He's not sure he really wants to explain at the moment; or that he has to, considering Merriman was at the wake. "I realized I hadn't thanked you for your help."

'Quite all right, Mr Bauer.' An understanding nod. 'When I heard of the situation, I thought it only proper to offer assistance. I have some experience in the dealings of that part of the world -- enough, at least, to be of service. I was glad to help.'

His expression sobers slightly. 'My condolences, on your loss.'

Something stirs at the edge of the forest, gold flashing brightly in the trees.

And then a Lion paces his way out of the underbrush, velveted paws quiet on the ground as he moves toward the lake.

The sense precedes the sight or sound, and so Merriman turns round in time to give a deep bow of greeting.

'Good evening, lord.' Quiet and formal, but with calm serenity.

Aslan inclines his great head in turn, solemn golden eyes fixed on the other Lyon.

"Good evening, Old One. Though I am no lord, not here. Aslan will serve well enough, and more than well."

'Very well then, Aslan.' As Merriman straightens, the setting sun streaks his white hair with a few glittering threads of silver. 'And well met, in this place.'

There's someone else soaking up the last rays of the evening sunlight, as well. Jack Sparrow stands on the deck of his Pearl, looking out over the lake.

And at the sight, Merriman raises a hand -- part greeting, part salute.

From what he can see, the Pearl has had repairwork done to her since his last visit. And that is a cheering sight.

The movement catches his eye, and Jack turns with an abrupt swaying movement -- then grins.

"Evening, commodore."

He strolls over to the railing, adding,

"Come to share a bit of rum, have you?"

'Only if you're pouring it where I can see it, Captain Sparrow,' Merriman drawls. He steps out lightly onto the water, as he had before, and picks his way across the lake to the Pearl. 'I have to be capable of getting back across the lake on my own power, after all.'
