The room shook.

That wouldn't have been so bad if it hadn't sent Mary's book - a fairly heavy book, too - flying flying across the room, skidding along the floor to rest under a table.

Mary emerges from under that table a few minutes later, clutching the book tightly, and looking more than a little vexed about the whole situation.

He's slowly becoming more accustomed to the idea of utilizing Milliways as a place to visit for coffee, relatively unguarded conversation, and extra hours in the evening to use for work, as well as a safe place to see his children.

Therefore, Gabriel Tam walks though the door just in time to see Mary crawling out from under the table.

"Mary?"

It's said with a touch of surprise.

Mary clambers back to her feet, using one hand to push herself back up, while clutching the book tightly in the other.

"My book fell," she explains, a little defensively.

"I had to get it back."

"Ah, of course."

Gabriel smiles.

"And speaking of books, I should have a few for you in about a week. Regan and I sent to storage for them, you see."

He walks from the door in her direction, adding,

"And how are you this evening?"

. . . Mary is not quite sure why Gabe had to send to storage for books, but it sounds impressive.

"I am nearly done with Malory," she says, importantly, "and after that I shall be able to read the books that you give me."

It's another moment before she remembers to answer the actual question, and adds, solemnly, "I am all right, I expect."

For great slowtime-

"And when events finally start affecting our books, then it all becomes much more serious." Observes Wellard, offering Mary a hand up as she emerges from under the table.

A beat, and then Mary accepts the hand, keeping the other arm wrapped around her book.

"The room shook!" she tells him, looking rather personally offended by this.

Clearly, it's just out to get her.

"So did the whole bar, and it has before." Wellard shakes his head.

"A couple days ago, the model boat I built fell over- I've had to repair it."

"Is it all right now?" Mary asks, a little anxiously.

Making things is important.
