Raptor Red is blissfully unaware of any gloom and doom in the bar-as far as she's concerned, she's just shown up at the strange food-giving place again, and it's a reason to be happy. And so the raptor trots into the bar, tilting her head curiously as she looks around and sniffs. Besides the seeming endless supply of food, there's always things to ( Read more... )

Ray glances up from his table and smiles. "Oh, hey," he says tiredly. "Hi, Red."

"Khht!" Red bobs her head in a greeting and trots over, sniffing to air carefully. It's been awhile since she's seen Ray, and who knows what interesting scents he might've collected in that time. The raptor shoves a chair out of the way with one leg-easier to stand by the table that way.

When Ray was home last, which wasn't all that long ago, he spent a while working with a section of leather Garion brought him. It came off a type of gigantic bird with hide thick as an elephant's, or thicker- dragon hide. (The dragon of that world was a type of fire-breathing bird.) So there's that; there's the usual mix of peppermint and clingy other stuff that comes when he tries to wash ectoplasm out of his hands and hair and clothes; there's the stuff from Great Khan Mongolian Barbecue (he grabbed some earlier today, but there was a spill). All the usual.

"How've you and Scribble been? I haven't seen you in a while."

(Oh, and a silver amulet on a chain around his neck, but he wears that under his clothes. Whether Red would smell it or not depends on how she is with metal.)

The smell of the barbecue makes her sneeze a bit-she still doesn't understand why humans have to do such strange things to food-but she quickly recoves, shaking her head and snorting. But the smell of dragonhide is interesting, and she cranes her neck to get a better sniff. For the moment, the smell of metal is ignored-organic scents are far more interesting.

The question about Scribble gets a squawk, and Red crouches down for a moment, then rises up slowly, stopping once she gets to the height of Ray's shoulder. Apparently, the chick has gone through a growth spurt.
