The door opens briefly to a view of a New York City alley, and Ray ducks in, followed closely by a stylized robotic dog about the size of a Rhodesian Ridgeback. For once, neither he nor his companion are covered in slime.

It's been a good day.

*Dionysus calls from the Bar.*

Evenin' Ray. What can I mix you?

"Surprise me, but keep me upright," Ray says. The dog follows along at his heels, the light at the front of its largely featureless head blinking yellow. "Hey, you haven't seen Peter, have you?"

Can't say I have.

*He shakes and pours a martini for Ray, adding a bit of strawberry to the mix.*

It's been a little busy, but folks are mostly keeping to themselves today it seems.

"Mm, okay," Ray says. "I sort of promised him the use of the dog. His wife's kid's been kidnapped and the cops aren't having a lot of luck tracking him down."

There're familiar faces.

John Preston's got a table near the back trying to make sense of (ready for this?) Plato's "Republic". Clearly they're trying to rebuild things.

Preston decides that a wave is in order-but he's still rather trying to make heads or tales of the work.

The dog would be wagging its tail, if it had a tail. Ray, at least, has an arm to wave. "John! Hi! Long time no see."

John grins. It comes alot easier. And it has been a while. A fact not overlooked by the puppet.

"Ray!" He motions his friend over, "-It has been a while. What's been going on? You're here!" And he's not dead.

"Oh, gosh, lots of stuff." Francis trots up beside him. "Including more higher dimensional mathematics than you can shake a stick at, and enough overly complicated electronics projects to make your head spin. I've been in and out for a while. How're you?"

Kit Rodriguez is just staring.

And then he hops up, doesn't pay attention to Ray at all, and says in the Speech that the canid robot can understand, "Hey there, boy!"

Ray might just hear weird sounds.

Probably not nothing, because even someone as Force-sensitive as an eggplant isn't blind to the Speech when he's smart.

Ray looks over, blinking. The robot, for its part, spins sharply to face in Kit's direction. "Hello! Hello!"

It, ah.... is not the most intelligent robot ever.

German Shepherd sort of brainpower, maybe.

Even in the Speech, things still have their own sort of biases. Kit and Carmela's DVD player, for example, still sounds like Japanese, it just happens to be in the Speech as well.

He reaches out to pat the robot on the head, and only then smiles shyly at Ray. "Sorry. I just had to come talk to your dog, he's incredible."

Ray laughs. "It's okay. He used to be a hunter-seeker for a dystopian future government, until one of their enforcers brought him here and gave him to me. I had him reprogrammed. His name's Francis. Mine's Ray."

There was a lump on one of the comfy couches. Upon closer inspection it would be revealed to be a dozing Peter, his daughter securely in his arms. She was also sleeping, nestled against his shoulder.

"Whurf," the dog firmly announces, nudging at Peter's leg with its nose.

Peter blinked his eyes opened, and Maria yawned some.

"Ngggh? Huh, not now, Buster," he sleepily said, waving a free hand away.
