Serenity is on Beaumonde for the moment.

That may be why Mal is strolling in with a deck of Long Pai cards and a noticable weight in his coat pocket - Mal may have just won a few hands off of the locals.

Come say hi?

kokopelli, mal reynolds, raven, v, antigone

Is "come say hi" the same as "come leave a small-ish basket of fruit directly in his path"?

Because that's... pretty much what Ko has just done.

Mal...does not normally accept food from strangers.

Even if the oranges ARE pretty. And free!

Mal has Bar check over the food, and returns to his seat to peel an orange.

There is also, perhaps, a point at which the weight is no longer in his pocket.

Or possibly Raven has snatched at the deck of cards, instead.

He is a very strange creature, sometimes.

"Wei!" Mal exclaims. "Don't take the cards 'less you're ready to lose, Niao."

Mal is also a very strange creature.

Raven blinks.

"I do not think I am the one that lost them, perhaps."

Mal stares at Raven.

"Point. Gonna buy me a drink before you take my money?"

There is a slight Theban princess eyeing him curiously.

It might be the playing cards.

But probably, it's because she's almost certain she remembers him.

Mal notices Antigone, saluting with a plum card.

"Ever seen a deck like this before, miss?" he beams. "Lot o' fun, really. All with dragons 'n fruit and such."

She blinks, puzzled.

"Dragons?"

Possibly Mal's question is answered.

"Shi a - dragons. They're one o' the highest cards in the Long Pai deck."

Pointing to a vacant table, "I can show you the cards, if you'd like to see?"

"And how fares the future tonight, Mr. Reynolds?"

"Lookin' halfway decent, actually," Mal nods. "Hello, V."

"What about you, sir? How's the past? Fraid my history's rather poor."

"There is a saying, that was once related to me, that those that lack knowledge of history are doomed to repeat it. The past is currently such that I should hope that saying is not true, but never fear. There is a change in the wind."

"Much changes go on in the future as well," Mal adds.

"Is this...change, comin' soon? I'm curious."
