Raguel is at the bar, an untouched glass of beer in front of him. He's not exactly there in spirit, judging by the faraway expression on his face, but he's quite willing to be interrupted.

Perhaps the writer plopping down not too far away from him may serve as a distraction, though it looks like he may launch into a writing spell as soon as he orders something to drink.

...funny, the bar doesn't seem to be working.

Raguel snaps out of his reverie with an effort. He starts to speak to the newcomer immediately, then hesitates. But it's too late now - the man's glanced up. Raguel gives him an apologetic smile.

"All right down there?"

"I don't know about the bar, but I'm all right. If not a little confused. You know what's wrong with her?"

He frowns at the bar's surface and brushes one hand absently across it.

"No, I got my drink from a waitrat. I-- I don't usually order from her," he adds, sounding a little embarrassed.

"She doesn't like me very much. But I've never seen her refuse other people."

"My, my, ducky, you look downright dreary." Lucy observes. "Penny for your thoughts?"

He glances up, startled, and makes an effort not to glare at her.

A small effort.

"Well, right now I'm thinking that you shouldn't come up behind me suddenly like that."

"You'd prefer I wore a bell?" She raises an eyebrow, thoroughly amused.

"Uh." He seems to be considering this, and the idea is more than a little entertaining. His mouth twitches.

"Well, not like that wouldn't help, but some kind of warning that you're close is all that's really necessary. Probably."

Nynaeve, on her way past, glares balefully at Raguel's glass of beer.

Then she pauses, glare turning to a thoughtful frown, and watches Raguel's faraway expression for a moment.

"Tell me you didn't hit your head this time."

If her tone lacks bite, it's certainly not because she may be a little concerned.

"Mm?" he says, blinking at her. Likely this does nothing to allay any hypothetical concern.

"Oh. Uh, no. Not recently."

She's still frowning, but seems prepared to believe him, if only for the moment.

"Then what has you so distracted?"

It's more a demand than a request--in tone if not in words.

"Same thing as last time, really. Just trying to work out what my next step should be."

He gives her a pointed look.

"Yes, I'm taking into account your opinion that falling from a height again is a stupid idea."

Xas slips quietly onto a barstool next to him, one hand brushing lightly over his shoulder.

"Raguel?"

He looks up quickly, then relaxes.

"Yeah?" he says, leaning one elbow on the bar.

Xas laughs, quiet and warm.

"I'd wondered if you were too far away to hear me talking."

"Oh. No, I heard just fine. I was just thinking."

He meets Xas's eyes better than most.

"Howdy!"

A very bouncy Billy comes along and even has a smile for Raguel. A lot has happened since they saw each other last.

A flash of thinly disguised relief crosses his face, followed by concern.

"Evening," he says, trying to stop himself from reaching for the cigarettes.

"Did-- How are you?"

"Wow... it has beena long time since we saw each other. Over eight months has passed for me."

he sighs and nods.

"He was stopped... he went too far and the Prescence finally acted."

"Oh," he says, and he's not sure if it's relief or horror that shows most strongly on his face.

"That's... good. I'm glad to see you back."
