Amy came downstairs this evening for tea, and was rather surprised to be be given a cupcake with a candle on it to go along with it.

Now she's sitting at a table in the middle of the bar, ignoring the tea and watching the pale purple candle slowly burn down closer and closer to the icing.

"Amy!" says Phil, approaching gleefully. "Is it your birthday? Why didn't you tell me, you silly goose!"

She plops down at Amy's table without an invitation.

"Hello, Phil," says Amy, looking up from the still burning candle. "And . . . I'm really not sure."

Phil laughs, but not unkindly.

"Well, dear, it's late April back at home where I'm from, and judging by the weather I imagine it's about the same here. If that's even remotely close. You should blow out your candle and make a wish though," she points out, "There's no sense in wasting a perfectly good wish now, is there?"

"It's October where I'm from," says Amy, and does not add "I hope," though she certainly thinks it. But after a moment she leans forward slightly and blows the candle out.

"Would you like half a very small birthday cake, Phil?"

While she is watching the candle burn down, there is a Wellard watching her, both amused, and concerned.

"... Happy birthday, Miss Amy?"

"So it would seem," says Amy, looking up from the cupcake. She's honestly not sure. As far as she knows, it's still October in the world by which she measures her years.

"Good evening, Mr. Wellard."

"Well, does the Bar know about these sorts of things? She know about other subjects, to be sure." He smiles a bit wryly.

"I suspect that the amount of things Bar knows would be rather astounding," says Amy.

And possibly alarming.

"And how are you this evening?"

Ingress flies in through the painting, with a present wrapped in giftwrap with meowing and purring kittens strolling about on it - from a Diagon Alley department store - and a big violet bow.

"Happy birthday!"

Amy looks up from her cupcake with a very bright smile.

"Thank you, Ingress," says Amy, looking at the wrapping paper with the tiniest bit of alarm.

"Open it! I picked it out myself."

Inside are antique lace handkerchiefs wrapped around a porcelain figurine of a lady in a hoopskirt.

"All right," says Amy.

Amy is usually a rip the paper off sort of present opener, but she's vaguely worried about hurting the kittens, so she opens this package very carefully.

And then beams at Ingress. "They're beautiful, dear. Thank you." She leans forward to give Ingress a hug.
