Phil sits at her usual table near the bar with the latest edition of Canadian Woman. She's not quite tearing up over the end of the serial she's been reading, but she does have a very prettily embroidered handkerchief out just in case.

Perhaps she needs tea.

Raven does not have tea.

He does, however, have cookies.

"It is an interesting thing you are reading?"

She looks up and grins, "Oh, it's just marvelous. It's a terribly sad story, and I've been just dying to know how it ends for just weeks and weeks, and this latest issue only just arrived today. You can't imagine how excited I was to get it."

She holds out a hand, "Philippa Gordon. Phil for short."

Raven takes her hand, briefly.

Though he is frowning.

"Hopefully the death is not real, yes?"

He blinks.

"They call me Raven."

Sometimes he forgets which body he is wearing. It is pathetic, really.

"Oh, heavens no," says Phil with a laugh, "It's not real at all. It's just a story. The whole thing is completely made up."

She laughs again, "Or did you mean me 'dying' to read it? I suppose that's just a figure of speech, you know. I may as well say I was eagerly anticipating it. It means the same thing."

"It's very nice to meet you, Raven," she says, "I was just about to order some tea. Would you care for some?"

When the waitrat returns with her cup of coffee, Cally lifts her head off the table and observes the room, breathing in the scent of coffee deeply.

Seeing the girl at a nearby table with handkercheif at the ready, Cally's head tilts to one side, the right corner of her mouth quirking into a smile as she watches.

Phil sniffs twice and heaves a deep sigh over her story. She dabs her eyes with the hankie as she closes her magazine.

Looking around she sees the other girl watching her and smiles a bit self-consciously before grinning at her.

Normally Cally would look guilty for being caught staring, but the coffee is only just beginning to unfog her mind. She smiles slowly in response.

"Was it good, then? What you were reading?" she queries, barely swallowing a yawn at the end.

"Oh, terribly. It's a serial, you know, and I've been reading it for weeks and weeks and I'm been so excited to find out how it ends. And it was very tragic after all, and while I'm glad to have read the ending I almost wish it were'nt over, because then I'd be able to keep on reading it for weeks and months."

She smiles, "But then, it's always that way with the best stories. My name is Phil. Phil Gordon."
