... When she is feeling a little less homicidal, there is a young british officer down the ways at a table, toying with a bowl of soup. (His appetite has been missing, the last week or so.)

He would most likely love to hear about how things were going with Elizabeth.

He notices the wave, and manages to drag up a smile from somewhere, and give Martha a nod.
