There's a man and a boy watching Quinn ride around the lake.

Robbie looking suitably abashed and John Preston looking-well-stoic.

Robbie looked up at his father-then he nodded, Waving his hands up and down, "Quinn! Quinn!"

Quinn looks up at the sound of his name and smiles some. At the sight of the elder Preston his face falls a bit, but he turns Ross their way anyway. The horse snorts and breaks into a bit of unnecessary trotting to show the rider who's boss.

"Ho there," he says as Ross approaches, then stops. "I see you found each other after all."

The horse is a bit indimidating-but Preston's seen them before.

Hell-he's put them down before.

"Robbie. Go back inside."

That's the clerical voice. The scary voice, the voice that father used upon his populace to make them obey.

Robbie glanced at Quinn, then nodded-shuffling off.

Preston continues to study Quinn-it might be uncomfortable-but then again-it might not.

"...It would seem sir." John murmured, "That explinations are in order on both our parts."

Quinn, for his part, is staying exactly where he is. He's no soldier, but he knows better than to give up the high ground in an unfamiliar situation.

"Suppose that's so," Quinn answers. He's had time to think about this. "I shouldn't've left here so damn quickly the other night. The singing- that was-"

He waves a hand vaguely. "I dunno what it was, but I wanted out of there before it happened again. Didn't think to close the door behind me when I left, which is how Robbie followed me through. I'm sorry about that."

He's not normally one for apologies, but given the circumstances, he figures one is probably a wise idea.
