When at last he returns to Milliways, Bran Davies looks for Merriman, and for his mother, but sees neither. Instead, when he reaches the bar, he receives a note.

Bran Davies is enough of a musician to put his harp down safely and keep his hands from shaking as he lifts the envelope. He unseals the note without damaging the fastenings, and unfolds the paper with reverent care.

The note is in English, but Old Ones and Lords of the Light can use magic to escape language difficulties, can they not? In fact, Bran cannot remember what language his mother's note to Owen was in... but it hardly matters, because by the time he has finished the first sentence, Bran knows who has not written the letter. His jaw tightens.

In any case, Arthur has done what Bran asked of him. It is enough.

Reclaiming his harp, Bran hurries out of Milliways. He will spend the evening sitting with his dog Lluchddu in silence on the hillside, as the shadows blacken into darkness.

The note and envelope remain on Bar. Eventually she takes them back again.

[ooc: Bran collected the note at some unspecified time in the past, after Merriman delivered it. This is a closed plot post. Sorry.]
