When William enters, there's some snow caught in his hat and he's going over a list in his hands.

Christmas is coming soon and he still hasn't found the right gift for his mother. He heads towards the fire to think and get warmed up.

"Hello," Tamara says, very sweetly, over her mug of hot, spiked tea.

She's sure he wouldn't have expected her.

He drops his list and looks at her as he reaches to pick it up, "Hello."

"It's so cold out there!" she says. "And you weren't there to warm me!"

She smiles, and her blanket is slipping a little.

William blushes as he tries to think of something to say as he feels he's somehow ended up on a runaway horse, "I'm sorry."

[areyoumyjolly]

"But now you're here!" she says. "Do you want one of these drinks as well?"

[not_his_pa]

"What is it?" That's a better topic of conversation than how he might warm her up.

[areyoumyjolly]

"It's tea with whiskey in," she says. "It's a bit like the grog that sailors drink, only better."

"Whiskey's good for most things. I'll get some along with my coffee."

"We could sit on that big chair there!" Tamara says, pointing at the sofa.

William finds a rat to order as he knows that would be a very bad idea, Thalia or Katya would see him and it's just not smart. Yet he doesn't want to make Tamara unhappy, because she is nice.

Tamara gets up and sits on the sofa, folding her legs under in her usual fish-tail manner.

"Come here," she says, patting the seat right beside her.

He stands up tucking his list in to his pocket and sits beside her, he tries to leave some space between them.

She smiles up at him, leans towards him, and snuggles.

The rat returns with his his drink and he holds it in both hands, "Has it snowed here?"

[areyoumyjolly]

"Yes!" Tamara says. "It's so awfully cold out there! When I put my tail fin out of the water, it feels as if it was freezing right off."

She snuggles against him, more closely.
