Sometimes William really hates Milliways for all its nice folks who try and help make things clearer. He likes Miss Barlow and knows she's not as law abiding as she might be, but he doesn't know how to not be angry at Ben Wade

Katya has long been of the mindset that bad things just happen. There's nothing really to be done about it- they happen, and life goes on. There's no talk of fairness. Sometimes of vengence, but not of fairness.
This would be why there's now a large, muscular, fuzzy tiger crashing down to flop down beside him. Ignore the fangs and claws, William. They aren't for you.
If she were simply using her eyes, then no, it wouldn't be obvious at all. The shadows hide it very well from human eyes. But she is a creature of the shadows, and they fail to hide anything at all.
"Silly boy. What have you done?" She tsks, pushing her head against his hand as a not-so-subtle clue as to what he should be doing there. She'll get around to sorting that bruise out. Maybe. After all, some pains are earned, and need to be dealt with.
"And so you walked into a fist, mmm?" She's a fine one to talk, considering the size of the fights she tends to land herself in, but that doesn't change her tone at all.
And clearly, that spot riiiiight behind the right ear is a winner. That's good. Very good.
"Ahhh, silly boy. What am I to do with you?" Do you know how long it's been since anyone's petted her? As odd as the question sounds, it's something she finds herself wanting, from time to time, especially if she spends a long time shifted. "Why this time?"
"The Fourth?" This is some ceremony Katya has never heard of, clearly. Actually, she has seen the Fourth of July in all of its American glory, when she was on a training tour on that side of the Atlantic, but... she spent most of the time teasing the Others there for certain aspects of it to really take it seriously. After all, democracy failed as an experiment, from a Light Other point of view.
She'd also make some comment about it not mattering what other people say... but. She tries not to be too blatant a hypocrite.
Katya nods - she knows her history, if nothing else. That was just around the time the Light Others realized their grand coup in the new world was going horribly wrong, falling back into the stalemate seen all over the world.
For the record, she has never fully accepted that nodding looks weird in tiger form.
"I see. And people who lose their legs are cowards?"
He stops petting for a moment as she nods before starting up again and saying,
"No, it just got all confused and I got angry. The coward was more because they thought he couldn't hold our land. They look for anythin' and I try to not let it bother me."
"Good." She rolls, dropping a heavy paw against his chest, her paws carefully velveted. "Silly boy. You're going to fuss yourself into an early grave."
The irony of this statement coming out when he's effectively pinned by a Siberian tiger escapes her entirely. Sorry.

"Oh hello, Katya."
Hopefully in the dark the bruise on his face isn't too obvious.

Its kind of soothing petting her though she's still big and scary.

He's glad to pet her since he can do something for her that way.

In William's time its hard to believe that it is working with the War so newly ended.

He sort of hugs her and starts scratching under her ear again.
