Nanase Futatabi Episodes 1-3

So I made it through the first 3 eps. It's relatively easy to understand, and it's entertaining. The first episode was particularly good. Almost all the important characters and their abilities were introduced.

The main character is Hida Nanase and in the opening scene, she explains that she's a telepath. However, at the beginning of the story, she's still unaware. She lives with her mom in the countryside, her dad is dead and she's a nurse who goes by the name Tanaka Nanase. She's quite popular and well liked by her patients. So much so that she even appears on tv.

Anyway, in the first ep, her mom has an accident and as she's dying, Nanase's psychic power of telepathy is revealed. Turns out that her father was the one who told her mom to change their name and hide out in the countryside. Apparently he was involved in some dangerous dealings at work.
After Mom's death and at her funeral, Nanase meets Sunadori Fujiko (pictured below)  who she discovers (through mind reading and subsequent investigation) was her father's colleague. She also has the power to go back in time (think "Heroes" Hiro Nakamura).  Turns out Daddy was a scientist studying psychic powers in children.

Introducing to the mix is Iwabuchi Kosuke, who has the power of preconition/premonition.

In a little twist , Kosuke is revealed to be one of the psychic children Nanase's father did his research on. As expected, he does not think too well of Hida-sensei as he blames him for giving him the psychic power.

There's also this sweet little boy who is as devious as they come, albeit in an adorable way. He's Hirose Akira.

He's got the same mind-reading power as Nanase and relates very well to her. He is manipulative (though not in a bad way ) and sweet at the same time. For example, he manipulates Nanase's best friend into letting him stay with Nanase and her in Tokyo.

See that look on their faces? That's exactly how they feel after he's through with them.

Rounding up this "Cullen" family is Kishitani Naoto, or Henry, as he's called.

He's telekinetic, to the envy of Kousuke who wishes he could have chosen Henry's psychic power. Henry has a bit of a crush on Nanase which is a little embarrassing considering she can hear what he thinks.

Oh, I won't forget Nanase's long-suffering best friend, Mayumi Ruri.

She's a great friend who really cares about Nanase. And they have great chemistry together (as friends).

Speaking of chemistry, these two also have chemistry...

... and with Akira in the middle, it's just like Mommy and Daddy are fighting....

Rounding off this post is Detective Takamura who thinks, at first, that Kousuke is a serial attacker and Nanase is his intended victim.

And even after he's been disabused of that notion, he's still keeping an eye on the two. He has an idea that they're involved in something supernatural, but he's not really sure.

My Comments: I liked the first three episodes and I'm pretty sure I'll like subsequent episodes. At least until it goes downhill. I'll keep you posted.
