Graphic tutorial

Larger graphic tutorial…could easily be used for icon though. Done in PS 7. Should translate pretty easily.

Tutorial to make this graphic

Using these two pictures

Okay after preparing the pictures that I selected to use, I took this texture from iconistas and cropped it down to about 300x300

Then I took this Polaroid brush from throw_elijah and place it on a new layer using black

then I chose my first picture and resized it down to about 100x100 and then pasted it on top of the Polaroid. I then did any rotating and scaling that needed to be done to fit the picture in the Polaroid window.

Then I took my other picture and pasted it on a layer just above my texture background. I erased away the edges and then set the layer to Soft Light 100%. I then duplicated that twice.

Now make sure that you foreground color is black and background color is white and then go to LAYER>>NEW ADJUSTMENT LAYER>>GRADIENT MAP. Make sure that you check the box to group with previous layer because I only want the gradient map applied to the last duplicated layer of the picture that I just applied. Set the blend mode to Multiply and play around with the slider to get it to your liking

Then I took this brush from Bruno’s Honey Pot

and used it in black on a new layer at the top of my graphics. Then I duplicated that, flipped it vertical and slid it down to the bottom

Next I added my text with Eight Fifteen font size 30pt and Sharp. And then I added some smaller text above with the same font set at 11t and I set it to Soft Light.

Then I added this little decorative brush

and if anyone knows who did the set that this is in, can you please, please let me know. I used to have it but its disappeared off my computer and I don’t remember who made the set. I only have this one because it was on one of my other pieces that I had saved the psd file still so I able to get that.

Anyway…I placed the brush to the right of the Polaroid.

Now there are a couple of different ways that you can do this final step. The way I did it was using the Dreamy Photo plugin, which you can DL for free here: http://www.autofx.com/freeplugins/dreamyphoto.asp?id=7

Or: You can merge your layers, then duplicate it and add a Gaussian blue of about 3-4 and then set the layer to Soft Light. Then go to Layer>>New Adjustment Layer>>Hue/Saturation and play around with the hue and saturation until you find what you like. Do not click the colorize box though!

And that’s all :)

Here is my end result using the Dreamy Photo Plugin

And here is my end result doing it the other way

And of course those are both going to vary depending on the pictures that you use and doing the settings to your liking. The last one I just threw together fast to use as an example how it can be done the other way
