stagesoflove for the theme of "Five Ways to say 'I Love You'". This theme is "Love means making a fool out of yourself once in a while". Pure, unapologetic, silly fluff. :D
"This is the craziest idea you've ever had, Jaime."
"Aw, come on, Kara! It'll be fun."
"We have very different definitions of fun, boyfriend."
"I know. But I do this every year, and I'd love to have you there with me this time." Jaime smiled. "You did say you owed me after we went to that Julia Roberts marathon last week, right?"
"Well...kinda." Kara pouted playfully. "But I'm going to feel all weird and out of place."
"No way! HeroCon is totally friendly. Plus, you're a girl. That's going to make you the most popular person there. "
"Cool. I think. So, does everyone dress up at these things?"
"Most people, yeah." Jaime grinned. "Wait right here! Wait till you see what I'm doing this year!"
Jaime darted into his closet, quickly changed clothing, and ran out wearing a perfectly accurate Ted Kord Blue Beetle outfit.
"What do you think? I figure, there's going to be a thousand Batmen and five hundred GLs running around, but Ted doesn't get nearly enough love at these cons. I've got an original costume, and I get to honor one of the greats."
"Plus, you look really kissable in it." Kara wrapped her arms around Jaime and gave him a passionate kiss on the lips. "But what about me? I'm not really the cosplay type, and I don't want to be left out."
"I actually had an idea about that." Jaime leaned in and whispered in Kara's ear.
"Wow." Kara laughed. "You really are crazy."

"Extremely accurate, great attention to detail, and you used a more obscure hero. Impressive." The Costume judge at the contest, wearing an ill-fitting Booster Gold outfit, eyed Jaime approvingly as he marked his notes down on his scoreboard. "Consider yourself a finalist."
Jaime gave Kara a thrilled thumbs-up as she watched from the sidelines. The judge walked over to her.
"Now, as for the Supergirl cosplay..."
"Oh, no, I'm not competing. I'm just - "
"It's not a bad facsimile of the costume, but not very original. I don't think you pulled off the look completely. The real Supergirl...well, she's a bit more imposing in the costume."
The judge scribbled down his notes and walked away as Jaime walked over.
"Did I just get told I can't pull off my own costume? Really?"
"Welcome to the harsh world of HeroCon cosplay." Jaime kissed Kara on the cheek. "If it's any consolation, I can't think of anyone I'd rather see modeling a Supergirl costume."
Kara smiled and hugged Jaime as they walked towards the con floor. He was a total geek, but he was her geek.
