I love how far into Gaius's head you take me here--it's a dark place, but you've really illustrated his reality so well here.

I loved the way you wrote this observation:

most anyone he might encounter out here would put a bullet through his head and thank the gods for the opportunity

The connection you made between Gina on Pegasus and Laura in the New Caprica detention center is something I've never seen before, yet it's so perfect.

I like the almost tender way he stays still so as not to disturb Laura and Maya, and yet it also leaves me wondering whether he's doing that simply to get to watch them longer while also trying to experience that moment of happiness vicariously ... and I like thinking all those thoughts in that moment.

This is a really complex and wonderful fic.

Thank you for such a nice comment!

It wasn't something I'd ever thought before, but I rewatched that scene to write this fic and not only picked up that detail about her curling her toes around that chair, but also, seeing her sitting on that floor in prison clothes and bare feet with Gaius all dressed up, suddenly made me think of Gina, and it occurred to me it was possible that Gaius might have thought of her too. It's really a good argument for rewatches. :)

I was very unsure of this fic when I posted it, but one thing I really liked about it ( ... )
