I can relate to the car problem. It seems I can never get ahead on repairs. Leasing is becoming a serious option for me.

With the car idle thingie... What is it doing? Just idling really rough, sometimes stalling while you're at idle? If that's it, there are a couple things you can do... On most modern cars, the first fix is to simply disconnect the battery for ten minutes or so. If that doesn't help, the next step is to check the spark plugs. That's something I can help with, if necessary. :-)

Awww thank you. Mostly it's idling really rough - but also idling very low. It hasn't stalled yet, but has come close. Also I am now experiencing loss of power when I try to engage from stop. It's not much fun. But the bigger issue is that the engine light has come on, so regardless I think a trip to the shop is necessary even if it was just to clear the codes. Of course now that I also have brake problems I can hardly avoid such a trip. But thank you for you kind offer all the same.

Yeah, if it's throwing the check engine light, it's time to take it to the dealer. Personally, I'm avoiding that as best I can... I don't trust my dealership as far as I can throw them!

Agreed. I have (I thought) a good mechanic, but I feel he's been jerking me around a bit lately. I was going to take it into the dealer, but I hate the idea. I've decided to go to him and give him another chance. We're going for a ride tonight so I can point out what's wrong and then he'll take the car tomorrow to fix it (hopefully).

I honestly think he's good and honest, but when I tried to take my car in before he was too busy - so I brought it back and I think he was too busy (and likley forgot about me) again. So trying to cover his ass he insisted he couldn't find anything wrong and to bring it back if it did it again. Well d'uh it did it again pulling out of the parking lot. Anyway, I'd imagine I'll have his full attention this time and if not then I'll move on to the dealer.

I hope you don't deal with Donnelly's I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw a car. I'm pretty sure I could throw a dealer farther than that :P

wish me luck.
