When I was in, a majority of our briefings and debriefings were all verbal. We had orders and flight plans when we went out. These were basic short training missions which didn't require a lot of paperwork. This was several years ago before the advent of PC's, Power Point and all that

My answer, as for many things, is "It depends." You have to be more specific about where these briefings are being held. I've gotten briefings kneeling under a pine tree in the rain, where I took notes with a stubby pencil, and I've gotten them in intel vaults so high-tech it'd make Bill Gates swoon
