Thursday, Dorms, Just Outside The Main House

Niki stood in front of the door to the main house, a dark red rolling suitcase standing next to her, and a cream-colored envelope in her hand. "So this is it," she said to herself. "Pretty creepy-lookin' here. Right. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out where I'm supposed to be staying."

Anya is coming back from a walk through town and notices the new girl.

"Hey," she says. "Just moving in? You missed the first couple of weeks of classes."

"I was sick," says Niki, whirling around. She had been, sort of. She glances up at the building. "These are the dorms, right?"

"Really? You okay now?" Anya asks. "And, yeah, this is one of the dorm buildings. You assigned to the Main House?"

[mirrored_blonde]

"I'm fine," said Niki, grinning a little. "Room--" She stopped and pulled her letter out of the envelope. "Eighteen. I should be all set."

Thelma peered out the front door and stepped out onto the porch.

"Don't think I've seen you before."

[mirrored_blonde]

"You haven't," said Niki. She shrugged. "I couldn't be here for the start of the semester, so I guess they figured I'd have time around here to get used to it. I'm Niki."

[inshiningarmour]

"Thelma," she said, in her very British accent. "Nice to meet you. You in this dorm?"

[mirrored_blonde]

Niki nodded. "Room eighteen, it says." She waved the envelope at Thelma. "So you're a student here?"

A squirrel monkey in a little shirt, tie, and hat goes scampering past holding onto the end of a partially embroidered silk scarf and chattering excitedly.

Niki turned to watch the monkey. "Is it just me?" she asked, looking around and hoping someone else had noticed this. "Or did someone dress the monkey in clothes?"

[strongestgirl]

"Mr. Neilson!" a voice yelled out from down the hall somewhere. "You bring that back! I'm not done with it!"

The monkey looks around and jumps to get on top of Niki's bag to try and find the zipper so he can crawl in and hide.
