Connor was coming out of the Y, where he was still staying, despite having a fairly decent paying job, frowning at his new cell phone. How did these things work again?

Max tilted her head, and looked at the cell phone. "Nice antique, where'd you get it?"

Connor looked up, then looked down at the phone, his frown deepening. It better not be an antique or he and Mssr. Crowley would have words. It did seem the kind of joke the man would pull.

"My boss. We're all issued cell phones for emergencies."

Max nodded. It made sense, just not that he'd give out such old ones. She guessed that it was about money, like Normal giving out pagers, instead of phones.
