Being elves, or at least partially elves, neither Vanessa nor either of the boys had to sleep. So when she'd found out they'd be going back soon, they'd curled up together in her room, talking mind to mind among their internal stars. She still felt woefully unprepared to care for children, but the confidence and undeniable healthiness of the boys

Before saying his goodbyes to Embry and Tala, Jake made sure to drop by Vanessa's room.

Wasn't going to let Will go back without seeing him off.

"Couldn't not stop by before all this lot--" he gestured vaguely around, "-- went off home."

He smiled at her, "Adorable kid."

Her smile brightened. "He is, isn't it," she agreed. "I shall be sad to see them go. They are the first elves or part elves I have had a chance to spend time with since I arrived. They taught me so much of what I am and will become."

Jacob grinned. "That's good," he said with a little nod. "Must be nice to know a litlte more of what to expect."

[elvishvanessa]

"If I have children," Vanessa said ducking her head. "These seem... most unlikely, much as I have come to love them."

Jake shrugged. He couldn't help but think they did come from universes other than this one. "Guess this is just one of those times it comes down to 'wait and see'."

He smiled. "... I should, uh, get back to my other two before they disappear off," he said. "See you around?"

She nodded. "Yes, of course. Say goodbye to them from me as well if you would."

"I'll try an' do that for you," Jake agreed with a grin.

He gave a quick wave to her before heading back over to his own room.
