After making a run into the city for a few essential ingredients, Logan was now downstairs in the Carriage House kitchen, baking brownies.

Special brownies.

Vanessa was wandering through when she smelled something good baking and detoured to the kitchen. "Oh, hello, " she said, looking a little surprised.

"Hello!" Logan said. He tossed her a quick salute. "You live here, too?"

"I do, yes," she said with a smile. "I am Vanessa. I do not generally find people baking in here."

Logan pulled the first batch of brownies from the oven, arranged them on a plate and placed them out for public consumption.

Vanessa blinked at them. "They smell... different."

Not bad, just... not the way she would expect them to. And before she'd become what she is she'd never have noticed at all.

"Did you add a different ingredient?"

"A keen nose," Logan said. "Yes, I've added an herbal enhancement that often has an intoxicating effect."
