Sam had heard Phoebe had a new employee, though he'd been distracted by that damned music again and hadn't caught her name. Either way, this meant it was time for his little welcome-gift ritual, so he came down to the store armed with his container of treats and thermos of coffee.

And stopped short in the doorway, his face gone a little pale.

Willow put the book down when she realized a potential customer was lurking about. She was not about to let this one get away.

"Hi!" she greeted brightly. "Is there anything I can help you with?"

"I --" Sam shook his head, hard, and moved toward the counter. "No, just thought I'd come down and welcome you to the staff, is all."

'Do you know me, or are you a different version?' seemed to be kind of a traumatic introduction in this situation, so he left it at that and hoped the question would come up some other way.
