"That was quite flash," the Master said from the door of the TARDIS. "In a very understated sort of way."

"Hm?"

Merlin peered over, then smiled, his grin bright.

"Flash, flash, hmmm, might have been indeed! Thank you, good man!"

He bobbed his head jovially at the stranger.

"And what brings you to our little hamlet?"

"Why, the wind, sir!"

He gestured to the spot where he had appeared.

"The wind and fate, or the Fates, or perhaps the Kindly Ones... or could have been that rather good pizza in Philadelphia in the 1900's!"

He chuckled, eyed bright.

Pippi was out for a ride on Old Man, as per usual.

The, usually quite mellow, white horse with black dots careened about madly as if on a Steeple Chase, and if you asked her she'd swear they would catch that pesky steeple one day.

The girl and the horse were making a b-line for the man sized object to jump it until the girl realized that the man sized object was actually a man.

She pulled up on the reins and said "Whoa!"

Old Man dug his hind hooves in and thrust out his front hooves, plowing up the turf as he skidded to a halt.

Merlin peered at the skidding horse and woman, then sighed, and whispered. His hands sprouted shapes as he did so, one hand holding a glass of water, the other a carrot. He approached them slowly.

"Hail, travelers and well met. Forgive my blocking of thy path and accept refreshment of my hands in recompense..."

Old Man straitened up and was already nosing at the carrot. Pippi rose up a bit and peered curiously over the horse's head at the man. She pulled slightly at the reins to keep him from taking the carrot.

"Oh no sir, you were not blocking the path at all." She said in her usual friendly demeanor. "You are quite off the path, as are we. Paths are nice and all, but I like to get off them most of the time. Thank you very much for the offer, but before we partake, are you a fairy may I ask?"

"No, milady. No fairy. I am Merlin, a student of knowledge and magicks, and the blood I bear is not so good or pleasant as that. Still and this is true; I oath thee that no thing from my hand to yours will e'er hold malice or foul trick."

He nodded, his words ringing with truth, or with simple sincerity.

The arrival took Sora by surprise, who had been sketching till the man... appeared. She blinked, her eyes going wide in shock as she dropped her pencil.

He stared back, and waved a hand, words spilling from his mouth.

The pencil stopped in it's fall, rose, and danced a merry jig back to her hand, as he approached.

"Hail, milady, and my apologies for so startling you."

Her eyes widened a bit more at the pencil before she shut them tight and lifted her sketchbook to her face, making a soft sound. It had been a while since she did this around anyone new.

He blinked and stared, and then there was a bunny in his place, all golden of fur, and it hopped to her and nudged her side with a gentle nose.

There was a fox watching him from the shade of a nearby tree. It wasn't ideal weather for being out of doors, but the medicine seller knew very well that if he stayed in the pharmacy, sleeping in would not be an option. The bouncy samurai he roomed with would make it an impossibility. So, he'd assumed another form and gone out to sleep in it early this morning. It had been going quite well too until the stranger showed up.

He peered up at the tree.

"Hail goodbeing. I will disturb you no more, I hope, by my passage. May sun an shade and water always be at hand when they are needed for your travels."

He bowed to the small being, and smiled, then turned to go.

The creature blinked bright blue eyes at him, regarded him in silence for a moment, and then jumped down as if to say that really, he didn't mind too terribly that he'd been waken. He'd managed to sleep in till midday after all.

he grinned and eyed the little thing.

"Hmmm, do you hunger, my friend?"

Out of a pocket came a loaf of steaming bread, in which was baked meat, well done and pungent. he broke off a piece for himself and for the creature, offering it.

"I seek no binding or taming, simply to share my way."
