Ambrosia [Tuesday]

Mardi Gras didn't really mean much to Cassie.

What did make complete sense to her? Pancake day!

Yes, she was unlikely to find any pancake races or flipping competitions included in the festivities for the day here, but she could still do her bit.

She's pretty cheerful and happy to chat, which is a change.

Arm in arm, Abby and Jamie approached the counter. Jamie grinned widely and sketched a smallish kind of bow, the best he could manage with an umbrella over his head.

"Good dear lady, we bring you Mardi Gras tidings! And beads, for the right price!"

Cassie gave them a bemused smile, and nodded. "Mardi Gras tidings to you too," she returned.

"Uh, what price would that be?" she asked.

"Oh, the usual." Abby laughed and tossed a bit of confetti. "You know what they say, the biggest flashers get the best beads!"

At some point in the morning, a strange looking pair bounced into the shop. Jamie was dressed in a gold lame coat that he thought looked way more stylish than it really did, and had several strands of beads hung around his neck. He was also carrying a green umbrella decorated with tassels over his head.

"Is there something traditional we're supposed to say?" he asked the girl on his arm.

Abby adjusted the beads hung over her neck and tapped the 'Ambassador of Fun' badge.

"Usually it's a variation of 'show us your goods'." Abby giggled. "Then we give them beads."

"I guess the old 'stand and deliver!' speech wouldn't really be appropriate in this context?" Jamie grinned. Hey, he could use the practice, right?

"Do we make the poor young miss who's in charge of the shop stand as our first victim?"
