There's a sign up on the door to the Divine Leaf, today. It reads:

Open Mic Shift!

Opening-someone in authority tells us to stop!

Volumes of pretentious poetry are on special! Of course, most of the books are antiques, so it's pretentious poetry along the lines of Yeats and "Ozymandius", not along the lines of bongos and Beat generation, but, hey, a good artist can work wonders with any material.

Please note that poetry slams don't often involve actual slamming of things. That leads to lots of property damage, and most poets can't pay the fines. . . .

"People in authority" is a phrase which in this instance means Aziraphale, Wilson, or Sheriff Angel.

All others will face the wrath of the mallet.
