The front door opened and Beauty and Meg walked into the clinic, holding each other up. They were pale, dirty, smelled of smoke, and were both coughing and crying.

Meg couldn't take this; she fell to the floor once they were in the exam room and coughed hard.

Beauty slid down the wall next to Meg, trying to get her tears under control, and held her friend by the shoulders. "It's okay, it's safe here. It's okay, Meg."
