What are parasitic words?

Wikipedia says they are also called 'filler words'. It is meaningless words that slip in when you are speaking. English language doesn't have a lot of them it seems, only 'like' and 'you know' and sounds 'uh' and 'oh'. But in Russian there are a lot more of them and some people - especially teenagers - might use them almost after every word.

Oh! Like umm uh ok. lol! Sorry I couldn't help myself. :P
I never even thought about it but yeah, teenagers do try to sound so cool that way and it is a bit annoying. "...like um you know?"
