If software company positions were traditional D&D classes:

Tier I Support (Fighters, Barbarians): Front line units who spend their days engaged in combat with hostile forces, they will soak most of the company's damage. Occasionally Dev is called to the front-line, when more firepower than Tier II can bring to bear is required. Doing so tends to result in explosions and/or inter-dimensional rifts.

Project Management when they're feeling particularly brave sometimes go on to a quest into the land of Dev in search of the next "feature". This also tends to result in explosions and/or inter-dimensional rifts.

...actually, it's best to say any unplanned interaction with Dev will create an explosive inter-dimensional rift. With care the rift can be aimed...
